This page provides a brief description of each of the technical indicators which are provided on Stockworm. If you don't see your favorite technical indictor in this page, please let us know and we'll try to add it for you!!
For a complete description of the indicators, we would refer you to any number of excellent books on technical analysis which are available through Amazon.
NOTE: the indicator descriptions below assume that the chart frequency is daily. If, for example, you are using weekly charts, then the technical parameters will be in weeks (or months for monthly frequency, etc.) and you should adjust your reading accordingly (daily = weekly, days = weeks, etc.).
Divergence
A divergence occurs when the trend of price doesn't follow the trend of its indicator.
Bullish divergence: the indicator is making a new high while the price does not.
Bearish divergence: the indicator is making a new low while the price does not.
Price Type
The ohlc style (open, high, low, and close) is constructed with the top and bottom of each bar representing the daily high and low prices, respectively, the left hand tick representing the opening price, and the right hand tick representing the closing price.
The candlestick style shows a line from the high to the greater of the open or closing price, a line from the low to the lesser of the opening and closing price, and a rectangle between the opening and closing prices which is filled on up days and not filled on down days (or filled/no filled on up/down weeks/months/etc. for other chart frequencies).
The line style is a simple line plot of the closing price.
