List of forums

The list of forums appears when you click on 'forums' within the Stockworm help tab. This list provides an overview of all Stockworm discussion forums, along with their names, time of last posting within the forum, and number of threads and messages within each forum. You may click on the name of an individual forum to see a list of its threads.

Please note that the list of forums shown above may differ from the actual list that you see. We will expand the list of forums as users request different, specialized forum sections.

Forum threads

Forum threads represent an original message (the 'thread') and replies/discussion related to this original message. Threads are displayed in the order of last message posted to each thread, with the most recently updated thread first. Each thread listing includes the name of the person who started each thread, the last time a message was posted to the thread, and the total number of messages within the thread. You may click on the thread name to explore messages within it.

You may use the pager at the bottom of the list to look at older threads.

Messages

Once you have clicked on an individual message, you will see a display like the one shown below:

The message body along with attachments, if any, is displayed at the top of the page. Clicking on any attachment name will open a new browser window to display corresponding attachment. Please note, that some attachments will only be viewable by users with a certain subscription level: e.g. screeners and strategies will not be accessible by analysts.

A list of messages within current thread is displayed below the message, with the current message highlighted. The list is arranged to represent the order of replies for easier navigation. You may click on the message subjects to view them.

• post a reply - post a reply to the currently viewed message
• start a new thread - start a new thread within current forum
• go back to forum - go back to the current forum thread list
• go to list of forums - go back to the list of all forums

Posting a new message

You must be a registered user and must be logged into Stockworm to post messages to the discussion forum. You must provide a subject and a body to post a message. You may also attach one or more items to your message, if you wish to share your screener, chart settings, etc. with other forum readers.

You can optionally add advanced html formatting options to your text by using shortcuts provided within the textile formatting language -- Simply check the 'use textile formatting' box. To preview how your post will look using the advanced formatting, hit the 'preview' button.

To attach an item to your message, you must first select the item type (chart, point and figure, screener, etc.) and then pick one of your saved items of that type. Optionally, you may change the name which will be given to your attachment.

The following links are provided on the left of the message composition page:

• change forum handle - your forum handle is the name under which your postings will appear. By default, it is your name, although you can change this if you want to remain anonymous in the forums.
• go back to message - if you are creating a reply to an existing posting, you will be taken back to that message
• go back to forum - go back to the current forum thread list
• go to list of forums - go back to the list of all forums

Searching discussion forums

You may search for certain keywords across either all forums or search within one specific forum. A search box is displayed on the left side all forum pages. Once you have entered a search term and clicked 'submit', a list of matching messages is presented along with poster names, times of posting, and corresponding forum names. You may click on a message subject to view the message itself. You may also click on the forum name to see a list of threads within that forum.

Use the pager at the bottom of the list to navigate through all search results, if multiple results pages are present.
