another new strategy type; substitue for dow dogs Wed, 16 Aug 2006, 08:08 AM CDT

We have developed another new strategy type called the ‘sort and filter‘ strategy. This strategy is similar to the old autoinvestor strategy in that it is rule based, but adds some neat features like the ability to weight holdings differently in your portfolio (e.g. double weight the first two stocks in your open list). We have also added some new rules which can be used in both the old autoinvestor strategy and the new sort and filter strategy. The ‘filter‘ and ‘custom filter‘ rules allow you to filter (or custom filter) stocks, just like ‘min/max‘ filters or the custom filter in the fundamental screener. The ‘sort‘ and ‘custom sort‘ rules allow you to sort your results by any fundamental variable — a very cool feature. All of the different ‘dow dogs‘ approaches can be implemented with the sort and filter strategy, so you‘ll now see a table of dow strategies on the strategy list page and there is no longer a link to the specialized dow dogs strategy (there is no need for this strategy now that we have a more generalized approach).

market index autoinvestor open rule Fri, 11 Aug 2006, 01:29 PM CDT

We‘ve added a new open rule for the autoinvestor. The ‘market index‘ open rule allows you to add stocks to your strategy from the components of several market indices: DJIA, S&P500, S&P Mid Cap 400, S&P Small Cap 600, and S&P 1500. Our membership lists for these indices go back to the beginning of 2000, so don‘t execute an autoinvestor simulation with these indices prior to 2000 or you will get an empty result set.

screening using market indices Fri, 11 Aug 2006, 01:27 PM CDT

We‘ve added a new expert screener option. If you look at the expert options for any screener, expand the ‘screen within‘ section and you‘ll see the ability to limit your screen to the stocks comprising several market indices: DJIA, S&P500, S&P Mid Cap 400, S&P Small Cap 600, and S&P 1500. Our membership lists for these indices go back to the beginning of 2000, so don‘t execute a screener with these indices prior to 2000 or you will get an empty result set.

dow dogs Fri, 11 Aug 2006, 01:24 PM CDT

We‘ve added a number of new strategies related to the dow jones industrial average. If you go to the ‘my strategies‘ page (autoinvestor strategy home page), you‘ll see dow dogs under the stockworm strategies. We have implemented a number of classic strategies involving sorting the dow from increasing to decreasing dividends and buying stocks based upon these. From our initial results, these don‘t seem to produce thrilling returns, but it is interesting to have them in place as a point of reference.

site shutdown on Friday at 11:00 AM EST Mon, 26 Jun 2006, 04:03 PM CDT

As you know, Friday, June 30 will be the last day that the Stockworm tool will be available to the public. Due to a number of issues with timing our data services, we have determined that we need to perform the site transfer at approximately 11:00 AM EST. After this time, there will be no more public access to the site.

We assume that this timing will not present a problem as most users have already saved, e.g. portfolio information, watchlists, etc. from the site. Please let us know if you have a compelling need to keep the site up longer on Friday (we will consider your request — no promises, though).

After the transition, www.stockworm.com, will serve as an informational site for Stockworm Capital Management, LLC.

We again thank you for you time with us at Stockworm. We will miss you all!
