We will have a site shutdown starting around 2:30 PM EST on Sunday, April 22nd for major hardware upgrades. We estimate that the site will be unavailable for approximately 8 hours but cannot be sure of the exact time period (murphy‘s law is always in effect).

The result of this upgrade will be a higher capacity, faster server, so we hope that you will forgive us the inconvenience of a few hours of downtime as we grow our community!

We have added new variables to our custom filter and custom sorting rules, based upon requests from the community. We have added ‘time accurate‘ (non-split adjusted) versions of open, high, low, close, and volume as variables for use with the scripting language. In addition, we have added the ‘SPLIT_FACTOR‘ variable so that you can create split-adjusted versions of these values, if you wish. For more information, please see the manual (link).

We have added a new rule to our screeners and strategies called the ‘maximum stocks per industry‘ rule. As the name implies, this rule allows a screener or strategy result set to be limited in the number of stocks returned in each industry. So, for example, you could limit your result set to 5 stocks from any given industry to prevent your results from being overly weighted towards a given industry. We just wanted to give you a quick update on the site status because our ‘news‘ section has been quiet. Much of our time has been spent working through “happy accidents” (ok … bugs) and making the site more efficient. These changes are not visible to the average user but are obviously essential to keeping the site running. As we move forward, we have a number of new features planned and will keep you updated through the ‘site news‘ as these features come online. In addition, we will be upgrading the hardware for the primary server very soon. We will do this after trading hours and will provide you with advance notice of the downtime in a separate news release.

Even though we haven‘t officially announced the re-opening of the stockworm site, we have new users signing on. For brand new users, welcome; for returning users, welcome back!
