improvements to simulation analysis Wed, 21 Nov 2007, 03:35 PM CST

We have just released some improvements to simulation analysis based upon extensive discussions in our user forums. Two new simulation statistics have been added: annual growth (computed using the cagr method) and worst 12 month performance (computed as rolling 12 month performance for each day in the simulation).

In addition to these two new performance/risk measures, we have added the ability to show and hide columns in the simulation list, thus making it easier for you to see the information which is most relevant to your analysis process. There are also now balloon-tips which pop up over the simulation links in the simulation list and the strategy link on the simulation page … these tips provide you with quick details about the strategy and/or simulation.

For more information, please see the manual.

delay in data delivery Tue, 20 Nov 2007, 06:57 AM CST

Our data supplier has informed us that they are late in delivering our data updates based upon Monday, November 19. Please be assured that we will update our databases as soon as these files become available. To check the current status of our database today or at anytime, please visit the data coverage page in the manual.

We do most sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this delay causes.

Update: all data was in place by 8:30AM CST. We will be following up with our data provider to try to assure that we do not have a repeat of this problem.

portfolios/watchlists moved and portfolio 'hiding' concept introduced Wed, 24 Oct 2007, 02:08 PM CDT

We have moved ‘watchlists‘ to the stock analysis section of the site to more closely associate watchlists with the analysis section, where watchlists are typically used. You can access all of your old watchlists through the ‘stock analysis‘ -> ‘watchlists‘ section.

In addition, we have change the ‘portfolios and tracking‘ tab to be ‘my portfolios‘ and have enabled direct access to each portfolio from the ‘my portfolios‘ dropdown menu. We believe that this will help satisfy your requests for faster access to individual portfolios.

Finally, we have introduced the concept of ‘hiding‘ portfolios, rather than deleting them. The ‘hide/delete portfolios‘ page allows you to remove portfolios from lists and totals (hiding them) without deleting the portfolio or underlying transactions. You can later ‘show‘ the portfolio if you need to recover the transactions. You still have the option of truly deleting a portfolio if this is your wish.

As always, the manual has details on these changes.

improvements to portfolios Tue, 23 Oct 2007, 08:22 AM CDT

We want to bring to your attention some changes to the portfolio sections which have been crafted based upon your feedback. The most noticeable change is that each portfolio page has a handy header section containing a six-month performance thumbnail plot for the portfolio along with some other basic data items such as the portfolio value, cash on hand, and autoinvestor strategy managing the portfolio.

As of today, we have also introduced some changes to the portfolio summary page. The columns for open positions have been modified to be more intuitive. In addition, some formatting changes such as using parenthesis for negative amounts make the table a bit easier to read.

Check the manual for more details.

help with adding autoinvestor transactions into portfolio Thu, 27 Sep 2007, 03:34 PM CDT

The portfolio autoinvestor section has been updated based upon your input! Users have requested that we make it easier to enter trades recommended by the autoinvestor into their Stockworm portfolio. The new autoinvestor page allows you to edit each recommended transaction for execution price & commission and then update your portfolio with all recommended transactions with a single click of the ‘update portfolio‘ button.

As a bonus, the autoinvestor recommendations have been beautified a bit — each recommendation includes a thumbnail price plot, the full name, industry, and market for the respective stock. Other details are provided for closed positions such as gain and reason for the recommended close.

We hope that these changes enhance your experience on the Stockworm site.
